I’ve had a pretty busy week so far. As well as working full time, I’ve been out every night - frankly I’m going to have to add week night alcohol drinking to my Murtaugh list* (*for an explanation of the Murtaugh list, watch this episode of How I Met Your Mother https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=f8jzta4Kd3E). Anyway...
The week started with a trip to a nearby tv studio to watch the filming of The Apprentice: You’re Fired! Despite being a BBC show, it’s confusingly filmed at the itv studios (hence the background to our photo!). First we were shown the upcoming episode of The Apprentice (after having been sworn to secrecy about who gets fired) and then we formed part of the audience whilst the losing contestant was interviewed by the presenter. It was a really fun experience and as the tickets were free, it was an excellent night out!
Most of the rest of my weeknight evenings were spent at Middle Temple. I’m not sure if I’ve ever properly explained what Middle Temple is but in short it is one of the four Inns of Court exclusively entitled to call their members to the Bar of England and Wales as barristers, a history of the Inn can be found here https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Middle_Temple.
This week I’ve attended to chair a meeting of the Equality, Diversity and Social Mobility Committee (followed by a drinks reception), helped out with the election of the new Middle Temple Students Association (followed by a drinks reception) and taught advocacy to junior barristers on the new practitioners program (followed by a trip to the pub).
All in all, I’m exhausted and I’m looking forward to the weekend!!
