TGA WHILL powerchair user, Rebecca, celebrates her birthday in style at Heal's Cafe

Lady in WHILL powerchair celebrating birthday

Monday, 27th November 2017

It was my birthday this week so I’ve been catching up with a variety of friends and doing fun stuff. I took a couple of days off of work and visited a few museums and galleries and generally did tourist London, which was fun.

It all culminated in a quick trip to the hairdresser on the morning of my actual birthday, followed by a long and leisurely brunch in the cafe of Heal’s. A furniture shop doesn’t sound like the ideal place to go for a birthday party but it was great fun! There was a really relaxed atmosphere and the food was great. Plus there was the added bonus of being able to try out their furniture, crockery etc before buying if you were tempted by anything you saw!

I spent much of the rest of the week wrapping Christmas presents. I love all things Christmas, I put my Christmas tree up on October 28 (yes I know that’s before Hallowe’en but you need to deal with it), but I hate wrapping presents so I try and start early so that I don’t have to do it all in one panicky day. Still, several glasses of mulled wine and some terrible Christmas films on channel 5 managed to get me through it!
