TGA's Safe Scooter Driving Awareness Day attracts high numbers and ITV Anglia

1st August, 2017

TGA, the leading specialist for quality mobility scooters and independent living products, has successfully hosted its latest free safe driving awareness day – attended by high visitor numbers and ITV Anglia.

This popular event gave mobility scooter users and prospective owners the opportunity to learn the latest tips regarding safe driving. TGA provided a comprehensive test track outside its independent living showroom which encompassed a variety of ramps, cones and obstacles to simulate challenges encountered in real-life. This free-to-attend educational experience aimed to build greater awareness of the Highway Code whilst enhancing confidence and safety. Several charities and companies were in attendance including Parkinson’s UK, MS Society, Macmillan and Rehab United along with Police officers from the local constabulary. In addition to the large number of existing and potential scooter users in attendance, TGA were delighted to welcome Kate Prout from ITV Anglia who was currently using a scooter due to a broken foot. A reporter from the national magazine Disabled Motoring UK (DMUK) also came along to discover more about this latest safety initiative from TGA.

Daniel Stone, TGA Managing Director commented: “It was fantastic to see so many people at our latest safe scooter driving day – many had travelled large distances to attend. ITV Anglia were able to interview many of these visitors to understand why our event was unmissable in their opinion. In addition to offering guidance around our test track we were able to provide free safety health checks on all scooters so visitors could leave reassured. We listened to feedback from lots of locals and the Police were able to explain aspects of the Highway Code relating to scooter usage. Our new dedicated second hand scooter zone was busy as was the AutoChair stand which demonstrated car boot hoists. Overall it was a great atmosphere and we were busy up until the rain appeared just before the end.”

TGA focuses on road safety throughout the year with educational content on its website and social media channels. However, its safe driving events provide a unique hands-on experience so users can understand their own capabilities and improve their skills through expert tuition.

Daniel Stone, TGA Managing Director added: “Over and above benefiting our visitors we were delighted that our supporting charities also gained greatly from the event. The cake sale raised healthy donations for Macmillan and West Suffolk Hospital My Wish charity and ITV and DMUK were very happy with the media content they gathered. TGA is a company that likes to work as a team internally and partner with external ethical organisations for the good of the community. We believe this latest event delivered on this promise and hope visitors found it as rewarding as we did.”
