TGA Mobility Supports Road Safety Research Project Aimed At Scooter Users

27th June, 2017

TGA, the UK’s leading mobility scooter specialist, is pro-actively supporting a new road safety research project by asking its customers to complete a questionnaire developed by Nottingham Trent University.

As a trusted and ethical scooter supplier, TGA has always focused on maximising the safety of its customers through appropriate information, advice and training. It provides a structured assessment process whereby new owners are only supplied appropriate products that match their capabilities. TGA provides educational content on its website and social media along with safe driver training at organised events. These activities aim to increase confidence, capabilities and road safety awareness of scooter owners whilst considering the needs and rights of pedestrians and motorists. Hence TGA believes supporting this University research project is important.

This project is being delivered by The Department of Social Sciences at Nottingham Trent University and is funded by the Road Safety Trust. It is being conducted to understand mobility scooter user behaviour and the experiences encountered whilst using one. The research team is specifically interested in identifying the hazards that scooter users may face whilst travelling, particularly at road crossings. Researchers are looking for people who use a mobility scooter to complete a questionnaire and every participant has the chance of winning £30.

Daniel Stone, TGA Managing Director comments: “By supporting this research project we reiterate our commitment to improving road safety for all highway users. We have a duty of care to our scooter customers that aims to protect their wellbeing whilst avoiding detrimental effects on pedestrians or motorists. Our safe driving awareness days and online advice are available to all scooter owners, irrespective of brand, as we believe understanding the rules of the road is essential. We will be sharing this questionnaire with all TGA owners and with our lively Facebook community – I’m confident it will produce feedback that will make a difference.”
