TGA Delivers Accessibility For All At National Trusts Ickworth House With New Breeze Mobility Scooter Fleet

18th December, 2017

TGA, the national mobility scooter specialist with a local independent living showroom in Sudbury, has been chosen by the National Trust to provide four Breeze S4 mobility scooters at the magnificent Ickworth House, Suffolk.

Ickworth House is a grand neoclassical country house near Bury St Edmunds set in stunning parkland. The house was the residence of the Marquess of Bristol before coming into the care of the National Trust in 1998. Ickworth takes pride in providing an accessible experience for all visitors so they can enjoy its majestic grounds and buildings with ease. Hence it has acquired a mini-fleet of 8mph TGA mobility scooters so visitors who have mobility challenges can explore the Ickworth estate on their own terms. The Breeze S4 is a stylish yet robust large scooter that is renowned for comfort, reliability and performance. With proven off road capabilities, the Breeze rose to fame following its appearance on BBC TV’s Top Gear programme when it won the extreme mobility scooter challenge.

Since being delivered the Breeze scooters have been in constant use and the feedback from visitors has been very positive. Ickworth House does offer an eight-seater buggy onsite which is used to help visitors get from the car park to the house, however using one of the new TGA scooters enhances access across the estate.

The Ickworth grounds exceeds 1,800 acres so being able to provide mobility scooters opens up more opportunities for less able visitors. Instead of relying on a wheelchair they can explore the Walled Garden, Italianate Garden, Fairy Lake and impressive park and woodland grounds without assistance. If visiting as a group, scooter users will find it easier to explore alongside family members and friends, especially along the Lady Geraldine and Erskine Walks.

Daniel Stone, TGA Managing Director concludes: “We are honoured to have supplied four of our flagship mobility scooters to the National Trust and Ickworth House - it is such a prestigious property. Our Breeze scooters will provide a safe and assured driving experience for visitors so they can discover all the delights of Ickworth independently or alongside their family.”
