Dr Hannah Barham-Brown, TGA’s WHILL brand ambassador, has been officially recognised as one of the UK’s most influential disabled people.
The Shaw Trust Power 100 is an annual publication, compiled by an independent judging panel – this year chaired by Kate Nash OBE. The final 100 were officially announced during a gala dinner held at the House of Lords.
Amongst her busy campaigning, charity and career activities, Hannah has recently delivered international TEDx talks regarding her work as a #RollModel, whilst championing diversity in the workplace. She provides inspirational talks around the country on a range of topics which are made easier by her TGA WHILL Model C. Regularly appearing in the media discussing everything from Brexit to Blue Badges, Hannah is also a pro-active member of many organisations such as the BMA Junior Doctors Committee; Medical Ethics Committee; and the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Group. With her longstanding passion for charities, Hannah is also an Ambassador for both MyAFK and The Eve Appeal and founded the period poverty campaign ‘Help in Handbags’.
“It is an honour to be once again named on the Power List alongside so many personal heroes of mine,” Hannah says. “We all work to ensure disabled people are afforded equal treatment, access and opportunities, whilst flourishing in our own, very diverse fields, and I hope that the work of the Shaw Trust in promoting all the amazing things our community achieves helps to normalise disability and celebrate our achievements.”
Earlier in the year, Hannah's achievements were recognised by TGA who offered her the opportunity to represent the WHILL brand in the UK. As Hannah has Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, she is perfectly supported by the award-winning chair which, with its unique style and bi-directional omni wheels, provide independent mobility to style-conscious individuals such as Hannah. Her commitment to ethical enablement of disabled individuals mirrors the corporate social responsibilities of TGA.
"TGA congratulates Hannah on her latest prestigious achievement which we believe is fully deserved,” Daniel Stone, TGA’s Managing Director concludes. “Recognition once more within the Power List 100 underlines her tireless commitment to driving change for disabled people. We are proud that our pioneering WHILL Model C powerchair is empowering Hannah and believe her zest for life perfectly reflects the aim of our brands."
