At the 30th Anniversary Mobility Roadshow, award winning TGA will be announcing its support of the new www.Help-My-Mobility.org campaign to make mobility scooter insurance compulsory, by encouraging all visitors to sign the Government targeted e-petition on stand B74.
The website www.Help-My-Mobility.orghas been providingindependent, useful and relevant information topeople purchasingmobilityproductsand equipment since 2004. It aims toprovide userswith relevant, up-to-date and easy-to-follow information, equipping them with all that theyneed to make an informed choice. It details information and news from specialists such as TGA Mobility who supply the UK's leading Breeze and Vita mobility scooter brands. Help-My-Mobility has over 5,000 unique users per month due to the in-depth and up-to-date information regularly posted on the site and new visitors are joining everyday. Following a recent poll by Help-My-Mobility, 70 of respondents stated they would vote in favour of making mobilityscooter insurance a legal requirement. In light of this, Help-My-Mobility has launched aGovernment targeted petition in an effort to make this a reality, which is supported by the leading mobility scooter brand, TGA Mobility. TGA has recommended the purchase of insurance for many years, as it understands that most customers totally depend on its products for independence. In the unfortunate event of theft or damage, trustworthy and comprehensive insurance policies as provided by TGA, ensure fast replacement or repair of scooters so that everyday mobility is not lost for extended periods of time.
Jason Tate from Help-My-Mobility commented: "Unfortunately, mobility scooter thefts and accidents are almost a daily occurrence in the UK and, with scooter numbers increasing, this could get worse. To protect scooterusers and pedestrians, we feel that insurance is a must. Help us protect mobility scooter users by making mobility insurance compulsory in the UK. If we achieve 100,000 signatures over the next 12 months, then this subject will be automatically raised and debated in the House of Commons so the first and very important step towards making scooter insurance a compulsory requirement. We are targeting the Department of Transport who is responsible for these matters and thank TGA Mobility for their support in championing our course. Having insurance is the norm for all legal car owners so we would hope the same will apply for scooter users so people remain safe and mobile."
Daniel Stone, TGA Managing Director concluded: "We are delighted to be supporting this Help-My-Mobility e-petition as we believe mobility insurance for all owners is an excellent idea. On our redesigned stand at the 30th Mobility Roadshow, we will be actively encouraging visitors to sign the e-petition via a readily available iPad. We are an ethical and caring organisation that is always focused on delivering safety, education and support to our customers. This campaign by Help-My Mobility is essential as mobility scooter models are becoming more sophisticated and desirable, whilst possible legal issues arising from an accident also need to be covered. Combined with our structured user assessment processes, safe driver training and comprehensive warranties, insurance is a major priority that we always highlight to customers. By working together with Help-My-Mobility to raise awareness of this campaign, we hope that all individuals owning a mobility scooter obtain insurance cover from a leading name such as TGA."
