People with disabilities in Sudbury can now apply for grants from The Colchester Catalyst Charity to help them purchase mobility scooters and other products that will allow them to live more independently.
The Colchester Catalyst Charity traditionally offers financial assistance to individuals seeking mobility equipment in North East Essex. However, it has recently expanded its funding assistance to cover all areas now within the CO Postcode, including Sudbury.
Beneficiaries are expected to provide a reasonable contribution towards the costs of the equipment, with Catalyst willing to offer a general maximum of up to £1,000 in additional funding support.
TGA Mobility, which provides specialist mobility equipment, will be one of the partners that Colchester Catalyst will work alongside. This expansion will allow people to benefit from a wide range of products, such as bath lifts, walkers, mobility scooters, adjustable chairs and beds, wheelchairs and aids for daily living.
Colchester Catalyst aims to relieve the many challenges faced by people with disabilities and deliver a positive difference to local healthcare. In many cases, appropriate equipment is not available through statutory services and local people are unable to benefit from freedom outside of their homes. We aim to build a relationship with reputable equipment suppliers in the local area. For example, a reliable mobility scooter from TGA will provide a safe and assured means to access the community, friends and family. With the ability to go outdoors confidently, well-being and mental health can be greatly improved.
Rachel Elding, TGA’s Retail Development Manager comments: “We are delighted to have forged a new relationship with Colchester Catalyst. This means for the first time, all people living with restricted mobility and residing in the CO postcode area, could potentially own assistive TGA equipment with funding assistance. The charity provides a fantastic service and the application process is straightforward thanks to their understanding and experienced team.”
Rachel continues: “Here at TGA we also believe in these values so by working together, we will be able to help many more people enjoy greater independence and comfort, both indoors and out. This new partnership is yet another example of how TGA continues to support the local community.”
Rodney Appleyard, Development Manager for Colchester Catalyst adds: “We are looking forward to working with TGA and a number of other partners in the area to spread awareness about our services and help as many individuals as possible with mobility issues. It will be a joy to see people living more independently thanks to this equipment.”
