TGA, a leading supplier of quality mobility products, will unveil a new Swiss-designed StrongBack wheelchair at Naidex 2016 (NEC, 26-28th April, stand B29).
The pioneering inventor of the StrongBack wheelchair from TGA, Dr. Christian Grothe, will be available for product presentations on day 2 of Naidex (27th April) 11am, 1pm & 3pm. Stand D9.
For 30 years TGA has been renowned for continually launching new products including innovative mobility scooters, wheelchairs and wheelchair powerpacks. This proven heritage will be reiterated once more at Naidex 2016 by the introduction of the new StrongBack wheelchair.
Developed in Switzerland, the foldable and lightweight StrongBack from TGA incorporates an ergonomically supportive backrest based on an award-winning seating concept. Its unique shape moulds around the occupant to provide greater comfort through effective lumbar support. This design is simple and requires little or no adjustment to perfectly fit the majority of people looking for an attendant controlled wheelchair. The StrongBack provides a solution for many users who struggle to achieve correct posture and are prone to back pain or pressure-related issues.
The new StrongBack has easy-glide solid tyres and is totally compatible with the TGA range of four Wheelchair Powerpacks. A Powerpack consists of a motor unit, drive wheel and battery pack that can be operated by the carer and attaches to the underside of the wheelchair utilising the welded location pins. Whichever TGA Powerpack is preferred, from the single wheel Solo to the bariatric PLUS, it will provide powered propulsion so a carer can steer the wheelchair with significantly reduced pushing.
The new StrongBack wheelchair from TGA is lightweight weighing only 11.3kg hence it can be lifted by carers without back or muscle strain. It will fold in a matter of seconds and only requires a minimal amount of storage space. This is enhanced by leg rests that can be locked in a compact reversed position and do not need to be detached to save space ensuring convenience is maximised. When folded, the shape of the StrongBack lends itself to being easily carried or lifted ideal for storing in a car boot. The impressive new StrongBack wheelchair is available in 40 and 45cm (16 and 18) seat widths and provides day-long comfort for occupants weighing up to 115kg (18 stones). A self-propelling version will be available later in the year.
Eric Cooper, TGA Wheelchair Powerpack Specialist commented: The introduction of the new folding StrongBack is a significant development in manual wheelchair provision. It addresses the growing need for ergonomic wheelchairs that deliver better postural support and comfort without extensive adjustments. Christian and I look forward to demonstrating the unique features of the new StrongBack wheelchair from TGA to all visitors attending Naidex.
