We are delighted to have unveiled our brand new folding Maximo mobility scooter and pioneering bariatric Wheelchair Powerpack PLUS to great acclaim at Naidex National 2014 (stand B70). These two new models both generated significant interest from all types of visitor. With more of a bias to consumer visitors this year, the Naidex event provided the ideal opportunity to demonstrate all the leading benefits of both mobility solutions to end users living with restricted mobility.
Daniel Stone, TGA Managing Director commented: "This dual product launch at Naidex National has been a success on many levels. Both the Maximo and Powerpack PLUS provide something different and solve growing trends in personal independence. The folding, 8mph Maximo offers the best of both worlds in terms of transportability and driving comfort, whilst the Powerpack opens up a new world of opportunities for larger, attendant-controlled wheelchair users and carers. As a mobility specialist with a proven manufacturing heritage, we are continually focused on market changes and these products will once again establish a new standard in mobility innovation."
Available from summer 2014, the folding Maximo provides a larger, 4-wheel version of the TGA Minimo with greater user weight capacity and an enhanced driving experience. The TGA Maximo can be folded into a compact size with a single, one-handed operation and requires no parts to be dismantled for storage. Despite its larger size, the Maximo can be easily stored in the boot of an estate car or 4x4 for wider owner freedom. The Maximo 'ride' is one of the smoothest available through fully active, all-round suspension and pneumatic tyres. These features along with anti-tip castors, provide safety and stability when tackling uneven surfaces such as mounting kerbs at an angle. Its optional lightweight lithium battery (only 2.65kgs) is a groundbreaking development that can literally be lifted by a single finger. With more range, features and comfort, the Maximo now combines all the benefits of a collapsible car boot scooter with a larger standard 8mph model.
Launched alongside the Maximo, the more powerful TGA Wheelchair Powerpack PLUS now provides the most effective method to propel a manual, attendant-controlled wheelchair and occupant weighing 17.5st. Based on the leading TGA Powerpack range that has been totally designed and built in the UK for over 25 years, the new Powerpack PLUS has a higher user weight capacity, advanced performance and enhanced safety features. It eliminates the difficulties posed for carers when negotiating slopes, ramps or uneven surfaces with larger clients and significantly reduces manual handling risks.
Eric Cooper, TGA Powerpack Product Manager added: "Naidex has proven to be the ideal platform for us to introduce this remarkable new solution to a wide variety of healthcare professionals. The team and I were especially busy on day two of the show, with enquiries from OTs regarding the PLUS model and how it can benefits client wellbeing and improve carer moving and handling. Our Soap Box seminar provided the perfect opportunity to present a focused summary highlighting why the TGA Powerpack helps deliver conformity to essential Health & Safety Executive directives."
In addition to delivering high numbers of new product demonstrations and the Powerpack Soap Box seminar, TGA were delighted to welcome Steve Tarrant onto stand B70 on Day two of Naidex. Steve Tarrant, 53 from Poole, is a disabled motorsport marshal who survived a near-fatal crash at Goodwood and is attempting to drive a TGA mobility scooter, the furthest distance ever in 24 hours during May. TGA is supporting Steve with full engineering and technical support at Goodwood Motor Circuit during 16-17th May as he aims to break the current record over a non-stop 24-hour period.
