Nick Brown, 51 from Cheltenham and retired fabric restoration specialist, has just regained his freedom after suffering a debilitating back injury, thanks to a radical new TGA Vita X mobility scooter with off-road capabilities.
Nick managed a highly successful, specialist fabric and upholstery cleaning business for over 20 years. One of his many prestigious accounts included appointment to restore priceless materials at Prince Charles' country home, Highgrove House. He managed a highly skilled team and achieved business success until the recession hit in 2009. To add to his difficulties, Nick sustained a serious back injury that year too resulting in a loss of mobility and the need to close his business. A tough time for Nick and his family however they all remained positive and Nick has just experienced a dramatic improvement in his independence outdoors, thanks to a new type of mobility scooter. The 8mph, TGA Vita X is a next generation mobility scooter that has off-road capabilities that are ideally suited to tackling the rural environment around Nick's home. As the Brown's live next to Cheltenham Racecourse Nick can now access the outdoors safely and walk his dog whilst watching the horses gallop by.
Nick explains: "My TGA Vita X has made such a massive difference to my life. Simple facts, such as being able to walk my Labrador Hugo on my own and drive with peace of mind along countryside tracks, are absolutely priceless. I first saw what TGA mobility scooter could do when they appeared on the TV programme BBC Top Gear, which involved a Breeze successfully tackling a rugged Brecon Beacons hillside. I never knew certain scooters had these impressive capabilities, especially over soft and wet mud. My Vita X has delivered the same amazing performance around the local Racecourse and Hugo loves running alongside. I know he thinks riding on the scooter looks like fun but I always encourage him to remain on all fours!"
The TGA Vita X is unlike any other mobility scooter in terms of technology and looks. It has a revolutionary rear mono shock absorber developed from the motorcycle industry and active front suspension. This means each wheel can respond to terrain changes independently, so the rider remains stable and safe when negotiating slopes and kerbs. This pioneering engineering is combined with high grip tyres, extra performance, cutting-edge styling and a higher user weight of up to 28 stone.
Nick continues: "TGA have bent over backwards to support me, their service has been excellent. This has really helped relieve stress for my family and I, as my eldest son is still recovering from a serious rugby injury whilst trying to complete his GSCE mock exams. I've been especially impressed with the Vita's ability to climb inclines smoothly and its bucket leather seat keeps my bad back so stable. This stability and comfort is absolutely imperative for me so I'm not in pain and the fact that the battery holds its charge so well, allows me to drive several miles from home without any worries. I also have TGA's new puncture sealant system injected in the tyres that adds to my peace of mind. I'm now looking to invest in a car that will carry the Vita X so I can venture further afield such as taking my boys to London for the day."
