Hexagon Healthcare, Surrey's leading mobility product showroom, has successfully held a well-attended safe mobility scooter driving day and presented local Mr Coleman with a winning Eclipse car boot scooter.
Based near Farnham, Hexagon has been supplying quality and reliable mobility products and TGA scooters for over 30 years. This caring local specialist considers the suitability of its products, along with owner safety, to be top priority. Therefore, Hexagon has hosted a free awareness day that offered all the latest advice regarding safe mobility scooter driving and guidance on owning the ideal model. The event was well attended by many locals looking to be guided around the fun mobility scooter test track. This experience gave existing and potential scooter owners the chance to gain a better understanding of their own capabilities in terms of steering, reversing and negotiating day-to-day obstacles.
Roseanne Finch, Showroom Manager for Hexagon Healthcare said: “We were really pleased with our safe scooter day – it had a real buzz about it. We had a healthy number of locals attend who were looking for the latest advice on safe driving and how to select the ideal scooter for their needs. Our advisors were busy throughout the event and thoroughly enjoyed engaging with locals on a one-to-one basis – the only way to truly offer guidance for assured independence. I would like to thank all the companies who supported the event including Motability, Autochair, The Queen Elizabeth Foundation for Disabled People, Driving Miss Daisy, Right at Home and Carers Support Waverley – they ensured the day was a success for all.”
In conjunction with the safe driving awareness day, Hexagon Healthcare ran a competition for one lucky local to win a TGA Eclipse mobility scooter. The compact Eclipse is a popular scooter as it dismantles into four easy-to-lift parts that can be stored easily in a car boot. Mr Coleman, a retired international removals specialist from Farnham, was selected at random as the winner and was invited, along with his wife, to Hexagon during the event to receive his prize. Mr Coleman, aged 60, lives with disability and many complex conditions resulting from previous major organ failure – hence he was ‘over the moon’ to receive a free TGA scooter courtesy of Hexagon that would increase his mobility.
As Mr Coleman has limited speech, Mrs Coleman commented on behalf of her husband: “My husband is so chuffed with his new scooter, its absolutely brilliant and will make a huge difference. I have had to push my husband around in a manual wheelchair for years as he cannot walk far – this gets harder and harder especially with the state of the pavements these days. Clive has never had a scooter before, he had considered one previously but lacked confidence. However, by winning this Eclipse and attending the Hexagon safe scooter driving day, he has been able to test drive in a safe place and is now practising around the garden at home.”
Mrs Coleman adds: “This TGA Eclipse will mean we can go out together side-by-side and I will not have to try and tackle uneven paving slabs and kerbs with our manual wheelchair. Roseanne is such a sweetie and has been so supportive of us. Clive’s Eclipse will be perfect for visiting garden centers, which we do a lot, as it is easy to drive and lift in and out of the boot.”
