Disabled golf day at Billingbear Park Golf Course, Wokingham

20th April, 2012

We are delighted to be involved in supporting the Disabled Golf Day at Billingbear Park Golf Club which happened on Tuesday 17 April 2012 featuring our Breeze S4 Golf mobility scooter and we congratulate the National Events Co-ordinator Graeme Robertson on winning the competition.

The Disabled Golf Society was established in 2010 and now has over 500 members nationwide. Every disabled golfer has the ability to play golf through the society irrespective of specific conditions, including those recovering from a Stroke or diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, Arthritis and Parkinson's. Amputees and individuals who are partially sighted or have reduced hearing can also take part and benefit from the support of the society, which manages over 40 events and competitions throughout the year. 10 of the members are wheelchair users and regular players include the Eastenders actor David Proud and actress Julie Fernandez of 'The Office' and 'Dangerfield' TV fame has championed the group.

Through a new charity, Fairways4All, the Disabled Golf Society is currently raising funds to purchase equipment to help less able individuals participate in the game. The National Events Co-ordinator Graeme Robertson, who has MS, recommends the specially designed TGA Breeze S4 GT Golf for disabled golfers who are capable of standing but play with restricted mobility and need a fairway-friendly mobility scooter.

Graeme Robertson comments: "12 competitors took part in this particular event and competed to win the TGA Disabled Golf Day trophy. The event was split into two events, the nine hole competition was won by Wokingham resident, Alan Morgan just returning to the game after a Stroke and the 18 hole competition was surprisingly won by myself, also from Wokingham, with 45 stableford points. We had such a great day, were fairly lucky with the weather and would like to thank TGA Mobility for their sponsorship. We look forward to working together once more to promote our society and the marvellous Breeze S4 Golf mobility scooter at the forthcoming Mobility Roadshow in June at Peterborough Arena."

The Breeze S4 Golf is part of the renowned Breeze family, which is a leading seller across the UK. It has an established and respected reputation for providing exceptional reliability, comfort and build quality and the Golf version is adapted with wider wheels and tyres and a golf bag attachment. The wider wheels provide softer contact with fairways so that good traction is maintained without damaging the playing surface. It has a range of up to 30 miles with standard batteries onboard which deliver ample range for 18 holes and the Breeze can safely climb a 9.5 degree slope - perfect for manoeuvring around bunkers and out of bounds if needed.

Daniel Stone, TGA's Managing Director concludes: "We have been a respected supplier of quality mobility scooters across the UK for 25 years and are always keen to support groups that promote health and well being for less able individuals. We take our corporate social responsibilities seriously and as a company were delighted to sponsor the TGA Mobility Disabled Golf Day. The Breeze S4 Golf has been specifically designed for use on fairways and is an adapted model of the version which recently won the extreme mobility scooter challenge on BBC Top Gear."
