Robin Kettle, 54 who lives near Harwich in Essex, is a successful entrepreneur, retired motorcyclist, website promoter and disabled access auditor. As an active wheelchair user he enjoys greater outdoor freedom thanks to the smoother ride offered by his newly acquired TGA Vita 4 mobility scooter.
Robin has been a full time wheelchair user as a result of a spinal injury he sustained after a motorcycle accident which occurred in 1976. He lives with his wife and three Jack Russell's who join him for journeys outdoors on his new eye-catching, TGA Vita Midi.
Robin is able to enjoy his new found freedom despite living with frequent back pain, even driving out and about on uneven countryside tracks does not cause discomfort when riding his Vita Midi. This stability and smoothness is delivered by independent 'Formula 1 double wishbone' style active front suspension and a pioneering mono shock absorber at the rear. This technology has been developed from the motorcycle industry by TGA's manufacturers, to help scooter users remain safe and comfortable when tackling kerbs, potholes or even off-road terrain. The Vita Midi's pneumatic tyres enhance the driving experience further and its compact chassis ensures maximum maneuverability in the tightest of spaces. Even though Robin is travelling slower than his motorcycling days, he is now able to access local amenities and the coastline independently.
In between enjoying trips outdoors on his Vita Midi with his three dogs, Robin manages a successful accessibility auditing business along with a highly popular, online disability directory called 'Ableize'. The Ableize website is the largest UK disability and mobility directory that provides access to the widest collection of mobility and health-related resources in the UK and Europe. It also provides an ideal platform for suppliers to promote their products and services.
Robin explains: "As a wheelchair and scooter user, I founded Ableize out of frustration for a lack of quality and accurate information online regarding disability. Through personal experience, I have been able to build Ableize into a trusted, wide-ranging directory. It highlights everything from disabled sports, the arts, employment, access, travel and support groups through to disability related products and services. Ableize also provides access to a comprehensive collection of local clubs and activities listed by county. I will shortly be re-launching a new discussion forum with a new, media-rich supplier community that will feature leading product specialists such as TGA."
Robin continues: "I have been thoroughly impressed with the service I have received from TGA Mobility. The Vita Midi is well built and easily negotiates the tracks and trail around my local rural area. I chose a Vita Midi after looking at everything else currently on the market. Nothing came close to its modern looks, as I definitely didn't want a fuddy-duddy old-fashioned mobility scooter. The Vita Midi is completely different."
