Jim and Gill Gordon are both in their eighties and, despite restricted mobility, have been able to retain their zest for life thanks to golf course and gardening friendly TGA mobility scooters. Jim and Gill are a remarkable couple from Aboyne near Aberdeen, Scotland. They have led very active lives all round the world following Jim's career as a senior executive with Shell before retiring 21 years ago. They lived in the UK three times, Holland three times, Kenya twice, and in Curacao in the West Indies before eventually settling back in Scotland in the early 1970's. Outside of his career Jim has always been a keen golfer, however over the past few years his mobility and eyesight have been compromised, resulting in a loss of independence and ability to enjoy his beloved sport.
Gill has also unfortunately experienced difficulties with mobility as a result of worsening back problems. Her ability to maintain their beautiful 2-acre garden was becoming impossible until she took ownership of a TGA Mystere at the same time as Jim purchased his Breeze S3 GT.
Jim explains: "I would like to express how these TGA mobility scooters have made such a difference to our lives. Before owning a 3-wheel TGA Breeze, I did review another mobility scooter with off-road capabilities but it didn't have the features I needed. My Breeze GT is outstanding as it has an all-weather hard canopy and a golf bag attachment at the rear. It is also equipped with extra wide, soft grip tyres that are fairway friendly so I can drive it around my local golf course, Aboyne Golf Club. They have been very supportive of me and the use of my Breeze on their course - it has helped me return to playing once a week. The suspension keeps me stable when driving up and down slopes, its three wheels provide amazing manoeuvrability and the swivel seat allows me to get off and on easily between strokes. As the course is only 1.5 miles away from my home, I can load up my clubs and drive straight there and onto the first tee without having to transfer out into a golf buggy. This sense of freedom has been matched by my wife on her new TGA Mystere."
Gill added: "While Jim is out playing golf, I can now access our garden thanks to my new TGA scooter. As our acreage is fairly substantial, we still need the help of a couple of gardeners however I am able to direct them and see what's going on more easily - I bet they love me! Gardening has always been my passion and now my ability to appreciate all our hard work is now uncompromised. Our dog Poppy happily trots alongside me when driving around and I can enjoy the company of my four children and nine grandchildren more easily when they come to visit. Unfortunately I can't walk more than a few steps so without my Mystere, accessing the local shops and visiting friends would be so difficult. The fact that it has superb suspension is priceless especially when travelling over grass and rough ground as my back is so bad. My renewed independence has inspired me to paint watercolour once more in our wonderful garden, I am so lucky."
